The Navajo YRBSS survey, administered since 1997, provides important youth health risk behavior information. Youth, schools, school boards, parent and teacher organizations, and others are encouraged to use the information in this report for discussion points, identify program directions, target unmet needs, evaluate initiatives, and seek additional funds and resources for intervention.

A special appreciation is extended to Ms. Vangie Yabeny, Office Automation Assistant, with the Navajo Coordinated School Health Project, Health Promotion Program, Shiprock Service Unit, for her tenacious assistance in design, development, and production of the 2003 Navajo Youth Risk Behavior Survey (YRBS) report.

The art work was donated by Eric Benally who draws and paints using pencil, charcoal, pastel, water color, and acrylic. His art work reflects growing up among livestock, cowboys and Indians, and Native traditional lifestyle and dancers on the Navajo Nation and in the southwest.
